Why Auth?

Authenticating with the TF2 Gather bot lets the bot keep track of how many gathers an authenticated player has played. Five gathers a week gets you peon (voiced "+") status in the channel.

How to Authenticate

1. Create a Gamesurge Account

This account allows you to sign in and use the gather bot, register at http://www.gamesurge.net/createaccount/

2. Auth with Gamesurge

After you create your account, put this in your "perform on connect" section of your IRC client: "/authserv login user pass". Do not include the quotes and the user and pass is whatever you used to register on the gamesurge site. Authing must be done EVERYTIME you connect to gamesurge.

3. Register with the gather network

4. Customize your gather account

http://www.gather-network.eu/myaccount/controlpanel/edit Edit the account so that it knows your IRC Gamesurge name. Do this by filling in your Gamesurge Auth name (the name you registered at the gamsurge website) next to the text that says "Auth GameSurge:."

Next, set your Main channel to #tf2.gather.us There is a Dropdown for this 6 fields down.

5. Auth with the gather bot

Put this in your "perform on connect" section of your IRC client "/msg tf2-gather-us auth" (no quotes). This must also be done EVERYTIME you connect to IRC and want the bot to record your gathers.
