GameDaemons is a server company that specializes in providing game server, Ventrilo, Teamspeak, and file hosting. GameDaemons, formerly part of ProHosting Corporation, was purchased by Speakeasy on June 23, 2004.^[1] Speakeasy was subsquently purchased by Best Buy Co., Inc in 2007.^[2]

History

GameDaemons was founded in 2001. Prior to their purchase by Speakeasy, GameDaemons was one of the most popular Counter-Strike server hosting companies in the North America. The company provided public HLTV for many small LAN events, and invested heavily in the competitive gaming industry.

GameDaemons was the preferred server provider of the Cyberathlete Amateur League^[3] and the Cyberathlete Professional League^[4]. As such, their servers were wildly popular amongst competitive Counter-Strike players and teams.

After the company was sold to Speakeasy, the popularity of their gaming servers decreased noticeably. The partnership with the Cyberathlete Professional League was also severed.^[5]
