E-Sports Entertainment Association
From GotFrag eSports Wiki
ESEA (E-Sports Entertainment Association) is a gamer-based company offering services targeted to gamers playing Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Source, or Team Fortress 2. The company is most notably recognized for their Pick Up Game (PUG) match service, allowing for Premium subscribers to partake in simulated competition with other subscribers. Users may also form private Teams. Teams can be used to challenge other Teams to private scrimmages, or for entry into the ESEA League. All servers used by ESEA are hosted and secured on their private network.
The ESEA League is a non-profit organization, of which is supported by the company's many sponsors and own registrants. The league operates as a tier-based ladder, reserving the Invite, Main, Intermediate, and Open divisions for professional, semi-professional, amateur, and entry level competition respectively. Playoff stages for Invite divisions are hosted on LAN (Local Area Network) events around North America. Players who are active in an Invite division are given VIP status, allowing them a free Premium subscription and other indirect publicity via the ESEA website.
The company hosts a comprehensive statistics system for all Premium subscribers. The system crunches such stats as FPR (Frags per Round), ADR (Average Damage per Round), HSP (Head Shot Percentage), and more. Stats are relayed to the user's profile for public view, unless the user has chosen to only have their stats shown to Buddies, VIPs, or both. Commonly, stats are used to gauge a player's skill and grasp of their respective game, giving searching teams or organizations a handy tool in choosing their tryouts.

The ESEA Client
The ESEA Client is required for all server-based services, including PUGs, Scrims, and League matches. The client offers a renowned cheat-detecting technology for its subscribers to keep hackers out of the community. According to ESEA policy, cheating bans are forbidden to be given off of demo, therefore leaving the client as the only source of detection. The client is also used a server browsing tool to find servers hosted on the private network.
Support Staff
The ESEA support staff maintains a healthy population of about 60 active support admins, all offering support service to members via IRC in the ESEA support channel on the GameSurge network or on the ESEA website. Staff are hired from the community on a monthly basis depending on the demand for new "blood".
