Defense of the Ancients, better known as DotA, is a custom map of the popular blizzard game Warcraft III. It is based off of "Aeon of Strife" which is a custom map for starcraft.

The map was developed with the World Editor of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, but is now only being developed for Warcraft III:The Frozen Throne. All tho there are many different variations the only competitive one so far has been DotA Allstars. Since its release, Allstars has become a feature at several worldwide tournaments, including Blizzard Entertainment's Blizzcon and the Asian World Cyber Games, as well as the CAL and CyberEvolution leagues.
