Andreas "bds" Thorstensson (born January 29, 1979) is a Swedish online gamer who has created many popular eSports websites and one of the owners of the SK Gaming news site and professional gaming syndicate.
Thorstensson created GeekBoys.org, a news aggregator in 1999. It later turned into a gaming clan and the worlds first esport social network. Through Geekboys' popularity, Thorstensson achieved several record-breaking feats. According to statistics, he became the single most-popular Counter-Strike demo player in the world. Also,Thorstensson created what was one of the original major Counter-Strike frag displays and the most-downloaded Counter-Strike video called "Frag or Die".[1] These major achievements would later be moved to SK Gaming when Geekboys joined up with SK on September 23, 2001. Shortly thereafter, the Geekboys.org web site was reborn as SoGamed.com and sold to two other Swedes. Thorstensson was also involved with the creation of XSReality which also altered its name and changed hands becoming ESReality. Both sites are still highly popular today among competitive gamers.
Thorstensson recruited Ninjas in Pyjamas to join Schroet Kommando after they had won an early Cyberathlete Professional League Counter-Strike tournament. NiP accepted his offer due to SK Gaming's sponsorship deals with companies such as Intel, which allowed them to travel to major competitions worldwide. The resultant team was the highly popular SK Sweden team of 2003 through 2004, which became the most dominant team the Counter-Strike scene had ever seen. This seemed to come to an end in 2005 when the team opted out of renewing their contracts in hopes of securing a larger share of the prize money and sponsorships. Before the end of the year, several of the team members returned to SK Gaming.
In concert with Alexander T. 'TheSlaSH' Müller-Rodic and Ralf 'Griff' Reichert, Thorstensson helped create a business around SK Gaming, from which he is the current Managing Director. Ever since his well-known inclusion into SK Gaming, Andreas 'bds' Thorstensson has created several innovative and extremely popular apps that boost SK's already-popular fanbase. This includes the innovative cross-realm ranking system for World of Warcraft that, according to statistics, is the single most-popular cross-realm ranking system around. Nowadays, Geekboys.org serves as his personal website. In 2008, Fredrik Lundgren became a co-owner of Geekboys.org with 1% of the company shares. Lundgren received the shares when winning a football bet.
